The Worcestershire County Museum Society

The Society is a registered charity and the recognised support
group for the Museum. It was founded in the 1960s and re-launched
in 1995, from which time it has gone from strength to strength.
The Society aims to -
- encourage people to enjoy the Museum and its collections
- publicise and promote the Museum, and its activities and
events
- broaden members' knowledge and understanding of history and
archaeology
- liaise with other museum support organisations and local
history societies on subjects of common interest
- be another set of 'eyes and ears' for the Museum by gathering
relevant information around the county
It achieves this by -
- organising an annual programme of talks on relevant subjects,
which all may attend
- holding 1-2 field trips to sites of historic interest each
year
- raising funds to assist the Museum in its work, and
particularly with the purchase of new exhibits
- liaising with Museum staff to share information and to provide
voluntary support
As a member you will -
- receive two free visits to the County Museum within each
calendar year
- have discounted admission to Society talks/lectures
- receive regular mailings
- be able to work alongside Museum staff on projects
- be able to meet people with similar interests
- be eligible to serve on the Society's committee and assist with
future planning
Annual subscriptions to the Society, due on January 1st each
year, are £12.50 (individual) and £17.50 (family of up to two
adults and three children).
Membership forms are available from
the Museum, or can be posted to you if you email museum@worcestershire.gov.uk
or call 01299 250416.
